Fond Farewell to Margaret
After 29 years as manager at the pre school, Margaret Ballantyne has hung up her boots and retired.
On the 19th July, the staff and committee arranged a surprise tea party, inviting parents, children and family that have attended during her time, to say their goodbyes.
Thank you to all who made this a very special day. Margaret will be very much missed.
We look forward to Jess and Shannon taking over as joint managers in September.
Going Wild in the West Country
Clare Balding rambled with our very own Charlie and his family. Charlie's mother runs the Facebook page 'Go Wild, Go West' and took Claire for a walk with spectacular views of the Chew Valley Lake, through the stunning gorges of the Coombe, all in the beautiful East Harptree countryside. She was encouraging children and parents to enjoy this free rescource and have fun with nature. They meandered through Harptree Coombe following the 'Squirrel Trail' trail, our annual fundraising walk that our committee organise. She gave our Forest School a great mention in the programme (13 minutes in).
“There’s a resurgence in Forest Schools and Charlie goes to a Forest School, actually the East Harptree one. I have gone with them a couple of times and if you see them all, the kids, together outdoors, they’re running around, they’re happy, they’re getting their hands dirty, they’ve got questions… they just totally come alive and that’s what children should be doing.”
Georgie, a pre school parent, commenting on our Forest School to Claire Balding on Ramblings Podcast.

Exciting news! Thanks to G Sheldon Groundworks and Surfacing we have a new decking area, fencing and picket gates in the garden.
